Good Morning #NoteddTribe! Not sure about y’all, but we had to hit the snooze button more times than usual this week. Despite wanting more extra zzz’s, our new favorite pastime — whether in the morning or right before we go to bed — is four corners journaling.
It’s nothing fancy, nor does it require a bunch of time to prepare. Instead, you focus daily on what you’re thankful for, what you want your future self to be or do, and what worked and didn’t work for you that day. So how do we do it? By using our #StayNotedd journal, of course. If you haven’t grabbed yours, no worries! Feel free to order yours today for yourself or a friend, and start this new journal journey with us.
If you’ve had your journal for a minute, let us know what you think! Feel free to share your thoughts or show us how you use your journal by sending us an email via the link below. We love spotlighting the tribe, so send us what you got, and we’ll feature you in our next newsletter or social media!
Alright, let’s talk about what we notedd for you this week! We hope the rest of your week is peaceful and productive (shout out to Tyra L. for this one), and your weekend is restful.
As always, #staynotedd!
You probably also noticed how this month (and usually only this month) multiple companies change their traditional logo into a rainbow-themed one on LinkedIn as an effort to celebrate Pride month. For most, companies change their logo AND show their support with donations and programming. However, many are calling this rainbow washing rather than allyship. Learn more about rainbow washing and what you can do to stop it.
The GOAT has done it again, as Gymnastics Superstar Simone Biles won her seventh US Gymnastics Title last weekend. Many say she’s on track to becoming the first woman to win back-to-back Olympic championships in more than 50 years. Like Biles, Olympic champion sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a name you may see picking up a gold medal in Tokyo next month, as she scored the world’s fastest women’s 100m in nearly 33 years last weekend.
Did you know that WNBA broadcasters and announcers are mispronouncing the names of WNBA players despite the pronunciation guides that they were given? Learn more about the impact this is making, particularly on the players, but the stark differences of how this issue is often fixed quicker with NBA players.
According to a financial services firm S&P Global report, the persisting wage gap against Black women has been setting back the US economy for the last six decades by billions of dollars. $500 billion, to be exact. Read the report further here.
The Forbes 50 over 50 issue is here, celebrating 50 women who prove success has no age limit! See who made the list, including VP Kamala Harris and Shondaland founder Shonda Rhimes, and how they supercharge their careers.
Last week, we covered multiple topics, including Naomi Osaka’s decision to leave the French Open and UNC-Chapel Hill’s decision to initially not offer award-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones tenure.
Since discussing this all last week, there has been a great deal of support, showing the importance of these women and their bravery to speak their truth and shed light on how these organizations are wrong.
Calm announced that the company will pay for Osaka’s fines, but they will also pay the fines incurred by other Grand Slam circuit players who decline meeting with media to protect their mental health. In addition, each fine will be equally matched by a $15,000 donation to Laureus: a global organization that celebrates sporting excellence and uses the power of sport to transform the lives of children and young people.
Tennis players, including Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend, have come forward to express the hardships they’ve faced in the tennis industry and by the US Tennis Association.
In support of Hannah-Jones, professor and highly sought chemist Lisa Jones removed her name for consideration and declined a position with the university.

In previous issues, we mentioned how communities are seeking reparations. One city, in particular, Evanston, Illinois, is developing a system to pay reparations to its community members. But what does that mean? What’s the history behind reparations, and how can this knowledge empower more communities to seek what they are owed?
The Movement for Black Lives created this toolkit to answer those questions. The toolkit is meant to support individuals, organizations, and communities to better understand what reparations are and how Black people in the United States can get them. Check out the link below to download the kit and learn more about the organization!
Toun Omezi recently launched an organic period care line, NIIMA (pronounced “nee-ma”), inspired by her own needs following the removal of an endometrial polyp.
She noticed that there weren’t any organic pads or tampons, which could further aggravate the issues that she and many other women were facing with their periods and overall health. So Toun designed her product line of organic cotton pads and certified cotton period panties for all women. She also distributes her products to women in need — fighting against period poverty. Check out the NIIMA product line and how you can support the brand’s efforts in combating period poverty.
