Happy Friday, #NoteddTribe! This week has been nothing but a struggle. From flight cancellations to rental car shortages to wi-fi issues, we’ve been through it. Therefore, we apologize for our tardiness in sending this issue out. As we often say, we may be a day late, but never a dollar short as we’ve got a packed issue for you to read ahead of the weekend.
Last week, we introduced our new monthly theme: inner beauty. This week, we’re exploring our inner joy. Do you ever think about how we came into this world without a care in the world? Just pure innocence and joy are what Joy Strategist Grace Harris points out in a recent Essence article. She shares that despite life’s most challenging moments, she still finds joy in herself. For her, “We’ve all been born with joy. Joy is our birthright.” It’s absolutely true — joy is not given, but rather it’s born within us. Check out the full article and jot down her tips for finding your joy within all of the noise.
We hope you have a joyful weekend!

Crowdfunding Campaign Update
First, we couldn’t have raised as much as we already have without the help of our fantastic network of friends, family, and followers! Online fundraising allows us to tap into our network of awesome friends, family, followers, and subscribers like YOU to raise small amounts of money from many people. Any amount helps from $5 to $500, and we’re almost at the 10% mark!
There are unique ways to contribute or donate! You can purchase our complete greeting card collection, sign up early for our community platform (more details in the Honorable Mentions section on an upcoming event), or even donate anonymously under guest checkout. If you’re unable to contribute at this time, you can also lend your support via social media by using our social kit. As the Gabby Petito case continued to receive the national spotlight, people started to question why missing women of color cases haven’t received the same attention. More than 70,000 Black girls under the age of 18 were reported missing last year. Indigenous women and girls are 12 times more likely to be murdered or go missing than members of any other demographic. Statistics involving missing Hispanic people are more difficult to obtain because they are classified as “white” in the federal data. Learn more about the families of these missing women of color who are still looking for their loved ones and seeking justice.
Don’t forget - Today is the deadline to file your 2020 tax return, or you will miss out on your IRS money. Here are some tips to keep in mind while you’re filing today.
Do you always often say “I Got It” when you don’t? Maybe it’s your immediate response when someone offers to help when you’ve got 30 grocery bags in your hand or for those times when someone asked if you need assistance with a task on a project. What are your thoughts? Answer the question in the comments section: do you feel like asking for support is an act of resistance, or can we really do it all? Read further on this topic in this article and check out author Elayne Fluker’s four tips to H.E.L.P. combat your “I Got It” syndrome.

We mentioned that we were looking forward to purchasing The Self-Love Workbook in a previous issue. A workbook written by Candice Jones is certainly one that you need in your collection. Candice created this as a resource help other young Black women use it on their ongoing journey to self-love and acceptance. There’s one exercise — finding your inner child — that we’re hoping to discuss further here or in another forum as it has connection to our overall theme of inner beauty. Grab your copy today and join us on this journey of healing trauma, releasing self-doubt, and rediscovering our authentic selves. Grab your copy today!
Over the summer, our research showed that more than anything, “community” was particularly desired by Black women — as a result of the isolation from the pandemic. It’s one of he reasons why we created a community platform. This will be a premium space for us to reflect, discuss, and share perspective on a multitude of issues that matter to us in a dedicated safe space. Our platform allows community members to frequently chat and discuss what’s happening in our community, indulge in both in-person and virtual events, and connect with other tribe members based on location, interests, professions, etc.
You can become a Fall 2021 founding member for free and save 15% off the first quarter membership in 2022 when you sign up through our crowdfunding campaign!
Want even more information? We’ll be holding a Community Town Hall next week to walk everyone through the new platform, the benefits of being a member, and take all of your questions. More details to come in our next issue, but you can sign up here or below and be the first one to know about the event.
