If we think about what allows us to go beyond, to be able to think and explore and daydream about 'what could I be,' we have to be comfortable right where we are.
VOL. 85 - THURSDAY, MAY 26

On May 24, 2022, 19 children and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

The fact that we’re living and reliving the loss of innocent lives to senseless gun violence and inhumane police brutality in a matter of two weeks is unimaginable, especially for those who lost their loved ones this week, last week, and in our history as a nation.
In between these moments, we look at the local, state, and national governments to act. We lean on local activists and organizations to lead the charge and pressure our politicians to make a change. Unfortunately, we’re led into a cycle that doesn’t reach the desired result. Then we are faced with another tragedy, another life is lost, and that fear presents itself again. While we must continue to do what we can and show up when needed, we must also always protect our mental health.
Now more than ever presents a need to take a Mental Health Day if you haven’t done so this year. If you have, please take another. We’ve found this resource to be helpful for us in deciding when and how to take a personal day and provide suggestions on what you can do to preserve your peace and energy.
#NoteddTribe, we’re hosting an impromptu call tonight at 7PM for anyone interested in stepping away from their hustle and bustle and just being and sharing how they are feeling during this time. We all need a community to rally behind and vice versa. We can all sit together in silence if needed, but we want to stress and emphasize the importance of putting ourselves, particularly our mental health, as the priority. Join us if you can!
As we all take some time to rest for the long holiday weekend, we must also pay tribute to the African Americans, recently freed slaves in 1865, who founded the day as a way to provide a proper burial for the fallen Union soldiers. It later became a ritual of remembrance and consecration, but like so many other holidays, it's not one our ancestors are recognized for.
As always, #staynotedd!

High-functioning depression was first brought to our attention after learning about the devastating loss of Cheslie Kryst. So, we asked the question: what is high-functioning depression, and what are the signs to look out for yourself and your loved ones.
