Please accept our apologies for the grammar mishap in the title previously. We hope you enjoy this updated issue!
Well, we made it through the first quarter of 2021, Notedd Tribe. It’s Thursday, April 1st!
We’re excited to jump start into this new month of content focused on well-being, but honestly getting into this new quarter is just as exciting for us as well. Part of our well-being growth is often reflecting and celebrating our accomplishments thus far in 2021. We have a lot to be proud of:
We started offering our newsletter more often — from bi-weekly to weekly.
We hosted a professional development panel discussion on mentorship, sponsorship, and coaching with phenomenal Black women leaders.
We launched Tribe Talks, one-on-one interview-style conversations with you all, our fantastic Tribe members.
We were accepted into two accelerator programs to develop our business plan and model further.
We reached a milestone of 200 subscribers!
It’s hard to celebrate during a week like we’ve witnessed (we’ll get into that later), but we encourage you all to do the same. Take the opportunity to reflect on your milestones, accomplishments, and achievements. We crafted this template to make it easy to jot those down. It’s important to keep them handy as a reminder and feel free to share with your tribe to let folks know that you are that ______ (you fill in the blank 😉).
As always, keep reading to see what we’ve Notedd for you this week and some ways you can help us out 👇🏾 (see below) and get involved.

Can you help a sis out?
Did you know that Notedd started as a graduate research project? Before we officially started, we spoke with women like yourselves, many of you who are our subscribers today, to learn more about your news experience.
We’d love the opportunity to chat with you as we look for opportunities to improve and refine our brand. If you’re interested in being a part of Notedd 2.0, please complete the below short registration form. Once this information is provided, we’ll coordinate a time for a brief chat that works best for you.
It’s another emotional week as the Derek Chauvin trial continues. We are tracking and watching closely as many of you are. However, if you’re also like us, you may need to step away. We could all be re-living trauma or the moment when you watched George Floyd live his last moments, as highlighted in OWN’s Queen Sugar, or you could be placing yourself in the shoes of the witnesses on the stand.
We’ve found our arsenal of resources that recap critical moments through the below platforms. We hope that it also helps you to stay informed and connected but allows you the opportunity to step away if and when needed.
BET partnered with “Run Tell This” podcast to provide exclusive video recaps on BET’s YouTube channel and website. Each show will break down events of the Derek Chauvin trial and offer analysis from special guests.
The Hill shares five things you should know on each day of the trial. You can also sign up for their 12:30 report that captures and sends updates on the trial directly to your email mid-day.
On social media, TheLawyher is capturing critical moments in tangible, bite-size reads on Instagram.
Lastly, all of the major news outlets — CNN, ABC News, The New York Times, CBS News, The Washington Post— are capturing everything you should know from the jurors to the witness testimonies.
If you know more that we didn’t capture above, please let us know as we want to continue sharing and making this coverage available.
Refinery29 writer Kathleen Newman-Bremang explores why it feels like it’s a catch when Black women make history at awards shows like the Grammys and Oscars.
Eight figure energy: Not only did Issa Rae ink a $40 million production deal with WarnerMedia, ‘Girls Trip’ writer Tracy Oliverlanded a significant, multi-year deal with Apple.
Here is the latest list of corporations that have spoken out against Georgia’s voting restrictions, which now includes Delta.
Georgia Rep. Park Cannon isn’t the first and probably not the last, as law enforcement officers keep arresting Black women elected officials.
Writer Morgan Brewton-Johnson shares her perspective of working as a young, Black woman in America, in a recent Harvard Business Review article.
We are excited to partner with Buy Me A Coffee. You can now monetarily support our newsletter by “buying us a coffee” which will directly fund our research and development and expand our brand offerings. In return for your contribution, each supporter will receive a special shout-out from us — right here in the newsletter.
Your contribution will help ensure that our voices are heard and amplify the unique point of view of multi-faceted, multi-dimensional women. We aspire to be a service-oriented brand that reaches all Black women and women of color through our perspective, community, and validation. That’s truly what excites us here at Notedd. We’re not only able to serve this dynamic community, but we get to learn from each of you and grow as better public servants.
We’re so grateful for your support thus far, and thank you in advance for your contributions!
Yesterday was Transgender Day of Visibility, an annual awareness day dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of transgender and gender non-conforming people. This year, the day was even more historic as President Biden issued the first presidential proclamation recognizing the day and the generations of activism by transgender and non-binary people.
While the celebratory moment passed, it’s just as essential to continue to raise awareness of the work that is still needed to achieve transgender justice. Just in 2021, at least 12 transgender or gender non-conforming people were fatally shot or killed by other violent means. Last year, forty-four transgender people were killed, and 23 of them were Black trans women.
Below is a list of resources and ways to support the Trans community.
We mentioned earlier the opportunity to reflect on your Q1 accomplishments. You can also start goal-setting for Q2. Our fellow Tribe member and close friend Clarice Luvone launched her self-titled blog to share how to live life by design. She even gives her followers tips and suggestions on some of her favorite things.
She recently shared a post titled “Dreams Deferred.” As part of her goal-setting, she’s using two practices to relinquish the fear and embody the manifestation of her dreams.
Learn more about these practices, along with how you can stay connected to her content.
