Hey, #NoteddTribe! We are two for two this month, sharing our beloved newsletter a day late. We feel terrible about it, but we’re excited to be with you again this week.
We understand that Mercury was in retrograde until this past Monday, but we believe it made a special trip for us for the entire week. We are hoping to be back to our regular cadence next week, but in the meantime, enjoy this week’s issue!
What we also learned is how tracking our menstrual cycles can help with our overall well-being. Two weeks ago, we felt like we were at our complete best. We were “working working” chile, crossing things off of our list, and making the right move after another. A week later, things weren’t as great, but we were still feeling pretty good with the ability to still accomplish some things. Two weeks later, here we are, our energy is at the lowest point with no interest in being around people, and feeling completely introverted.
It wasn’t until we listened to our coach and founder of Ambition + Mischief Sam Cartagena’s podcast episode with Hate the Dot founder Myoshi Days that we received the clarity that we needed. This podcast discussed all four phases of our menstrual cycle, the feelings, symptoms, and experiences we face during each of these phases, and why it’s important not to judge yourself but rather be aware and make the best of each phase with self-care.
Myoshi describes the ROSA Self-Care method as the tool to help better align your mind, body, and soul to your menstrual cycle. ROSA stands for
Rest when your energy is low (during the menstruation phase)
Outgoing as you feel optimistic and energized (during the follicular phase)
Sexy as you feel confident (during the ovulation phase)
Awareness & Attention as you’re in preparation mode (during the pre-menstruation phase)
Listening to this podcast, along with learning more through other resources, was life-changing; we highly recommend these steps if you are interested:

And we’d love for you to share your thoughts with us! Have you heard about these phases before? Have you ever noticed these specific experiences and feelings during the month? Based on what you read in the article and heard in the podcast, do you feel like you are in a certain phase right now?

Yesterday was Latina Equal Pay Day, a day to raise awareness of the significantly lower average salaries that full-time working Latinx women receive compared to White men. This year, it was reported that Latinx women are typically paid only 57 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. According to a new analysis by the National Women’s Law Center, they would have to work another ten months to catch up with white men. Additionally, Latinx women are losing more than $1.1 million over a 40-year career due to the wage gap. There’s a desperate need to commit to ending caregiving penalties for women, especially for women of color, and low-wage workers. As notedd in this Fortune article, Latinas do not need to be fixed; there’s a requirement to fix a system that favors all.

In addition to the exams performed by your general practice doctor, which we encourage you to continue to do, it is also essential that we conduct our own breast exams at home too. You can learn more by visiting the link below and reviewing the step-by-step guide from breast cancer surgeon Susan K. Boolbol.
