Good Thursday Morning to you, #NoteddTribe! We have simply 22 more days left this month. For us, the days that remain in 2021 are about self-reflection, and we can't help but consider last week's Insecure episode in our reflection.
We promise! There are no spoilers here if you haven't had a chance to watch, but it's a GOOOOD episode with the gal pals — Issa, Molly, Kelli, and Tiffany — having a girl's night in Issa's apartment. This episode has to be one of our favorites this season, plus a Black woman designed every costume for the first time, and the episode was written, produced, and directed by a Black woman.
Watching the episode piqued our interest to do a little updating to our wardrobe 😉 but as we thought about our goals in this new year of life, it hinted to one in particular: being rather than doing.
We want to have more opportunities to be with our loved ones, especially our friends, whether that's on the phone, on FaceTime or Zoom, or in person. Also, change will come, and it's not always easy to accept. We are all experiencing life changes, whether our own or witnessing our friends' changes, from new jobs to new cities to expanding and growing our families, but it's how we embrace and adapt to those changes. That's what's important right now. We must cherish each and every moment that we have with each other. Cheers to us all being more with our loved ones in 2022!
Tell us what you thought about this past week's Insecure episode because there was so much more from the Nathan - Issa - Lawrence triangle to Condola and Lawrence to our girl Kelli just being Kelli. Now, why is she slipping in Daniel's DMs?

Are you a woman of color working in media? We would love to hear from you!
With the goal of uplifting and sharing stories written for and by Black women, we are surveying people who identify as Black women to understand their unique experience working in an industry where 7% of newsroom employees are Black.
Would you mind taking our survey and sharing more about your work, what inspires you, and how you plan to move the needle forward as a Black woman in media?
As mentioned earlier this week, we'll use this data to inform an exciting initiative in the new year. While the survey does ask for your contact information, please know that we will not use your personally identifiable information unless you would like to be recognized in our initiative next year. Otherwise, any contact information will be used for internal purposes.
Lastly, if you match the criteria and participate in our survey, you will be entered to win a special gift from us. Click the link below to take the survey!
Congratulations to:
PBS News Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor will join the Washington, DC NBC News team as a correspondent.
Kiesha Nix will become the first Black woman to hold a vice president position in Los Angeles Lakers history. She was recently appointed to serve as the Vice President of Charitable Affairs.
Cardi B was recently named Playboy's Creative Director. She will help Playboy with artistic direction across all "co-branded fashion and sexual wellness merchandise collections, digital editorial, experiential activations, and more."
Tuesday, December 9, marked the first-ever White House Maternal Health Day of Action, a commitment to support safe pregnancies and childbirth and reduce complications and mortality in the year following birth. As we know and have heard, maternal mortality rates are at an all-time high, especially among Black and Native American women, regardless of their income or education levels. Learn more on this new initiative led by Vice President Harris that will evaluate hospitals across the nation on their maternal health care quality, increase investments in maternal health, and encourage states to expand postpartum coverage.
It is now year two, traveling for the holidays with COVID on the rise. The Washington Post compiled a list of the top 12 questions you may have as you embark on your holiday travel this year. Also, many are reporting that another pandemic is on the rise. Learn more about the predictions for this next pandemic.
Black women's employment rate dropped from seven percent to five percent, but it's not time to celebrate just yet. While the data shows this drop from October to November, experts aren't too clear on why.
Earlier this year, you may recall the victory for the descendants of the Bruce family. Their beachfront property in Manhattan Beach, CA, was returned to them after it was stolen from their family almost a century ago. Their successful win is now igniting a national movement to fight for land and property that rightfully belongs to Black people.
Here is HERstory in action. Created as a temporary monument to honor the lives of Black girls whose lives were cut short due to violence, "The Black Girlhood Altar" is now on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Black women pioneers hailing from St. Louis such as Maya Angelou, Josephine Baker, Fontella Bass, and Jackie Joyner-Kersee will be honored at the Griot Museum of Black History.
