Happy “Friday Can’t Get Here Any Sooner” Thursday!
Did you notice something different about this week’s social media content? There was no news 🤭 *says the infamous RHOA Porsha Williams line, “Who said that?” in the background. We decided to immerse ourselves in Random Acts of Kindness Week and shed some positive light on being kind to ourselves and extending that same kindness throughout this week.
However, there has been a lot on our minds. We witnessed the acquittal of 45, increased vaccine rollouts, and now the devastating impact of the winter storms.
This week’s newsletter includes the highlights from our Random Acts of Kindness social media activities, along with the good news we’ve Notedd for you and honorable mentions that we’re excited for you to check out. Also, we’re doing our first speaking appearance tomorrow. Learn more on how you can join us!
Let’s get right into it and always #staynotedd!
Happy Random Acts of Kindness Week!
As described earlier, our focus this week is inspired by Random Acts of Kindness Day (RAOK), an internationally recognized holiday to encourage big and small acts of kindness and inspire people to continue this practice every day.
It's important to be kind, graceful and express gratitude to ourselves and the people around us — from loved ones to our community members. That’s why it was integral to partner with Souly Serene, a positive affirmation brand, this week for #RandomActsOfKindnessWeek. Founder Teyonna Lanez gives affirmation realness on our IG story all week long, as she reads from one of her amazing Souly Serene affirmation cards and shares ways to practice positive self-talk. Not only is she is showing up for the #NoteddTribe every morning this week, but she’s also offering a chance to win:
a deck of the Souly Serene positive affirmation cards
AND
an affirmation hat to inspire you to maintain inner peace despite external chaos.
All you have to do is, follow @teyonnalanez and @soulyserene, and comment AFFIRM on the linked IG giveaway post below. We’ll announce the winner early next week! Good luck 😊
The commendable stories of Black women HERstory makers are underway or set to release this year. Stories include Billie Holiday, Shirley Chisholm, Josephine Baker, Dionne Warwick, and Tina Turner.
As a proud HBCU alum, we read this Smithsonian article written by Janelle Harris Dixon on how HBCUs produced generations of Black women leaders with so much pride and honor to be a part of this legacy.
It’s not over: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Williams, Congressman Bennie Thompson, and the NAACP are moving forward and continuing to hold 45 accountable.
Jennifer Carroll Foy is not just campaigning to be the first Black woman governor in Virginia, but running to fight the racial injustice Black people face in medical care. She is particularly lobbying for Black women who are ignored and dismissed by medical care providers during their childbirths. She similarly experienced this bias after giving birth to her beautiful twins.
Madam Vice President Kamala Harris wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post on the need to help the 2.5M women who have "lost their jobs or dropped out of the workforce during the pandemic” and the “time to get to work to get women back to work.”

As described earlier, it is devastating to watch, read, and hear stories of the millions of people affected by the winter storm in Mexico, Texas, and parts of the midwest. With so many trying to survive amid these dangerous conditions, we felt that it is essential to know how we can lend a hand and provide some assistance.
We are supporting the Austin Area Urban League’s week-long emergency donation collection, #LoveThyNeighborTX campaign, to help people impacted by the winter storm and power outages. You can join us and donate to this campaign, which is partnering with other community-focused organizations to keep Texans safe, especially folks who are housing insecure.
Additionally, please let us know if there are more ways or organizations that we can lend our platform to and encourage our community to get involved. We thank you in advance!
We’re excited to join a virtual ladies night event as a special guest tomorrow at 5:30 PST / 8:30 EST. Brown Sugar Boudoir is hosting a discussion on the themes, tensions, and revelations within Netflix’s Malcolm & Marie.
If you haven’t watched the film, please do so and join us in some “brown sugar banter.” Also, follow Brown Sugar Boudoir! They are an amazing virtual community for Black women and femmes to connect, learn, and love through self-love and communication.
Are you interested in more details to join the discussion? Let us know by clicking the link below, and we’ll send you the link!
